Renault CEO Luca De Mayo said that Renault and Dacia of the Renault Group will be reorganized on a large scale, and one day the Renault Group will return to the Chinese market.
Renault CEO Luca de Meo, who took office in July this year, accepted an interview to disclose his Renault restructuring plan, which will be divided into three phases. The first phase of “Ressurection” will be completed in early 2023.
He said that he will adjust and improve the market positioning of the Renault brand, and Renault will widen the gap with the volume product brand Dacia.
“I hope Renault will mention it a little bit up. It is basically what Peugeot Citroen has done in the past five years.” “Renault has fully focused on production and quantity (under Ghosn’s management).”
According to Luca De Mayo, Renault will focus on the C-class car market in the future, not the B-class market. “Like all mainstream brands, Renault has the same problem. It is positioned between the luxury car market and the cheap car market. I think we must reposition Renault to build Renault into a modern brand and clearly define the market.”
He said that the profit of the C-class car market is three times that of the B-class. He took Peugeot Citroen as an example, saying that Renault’s future positioning will be Peugeot and Dacia will be Citroen.
Luca De Mayo said that Renault will not enter the luxury car market. “Renault has tried many times to win the luxury car market, but they have failed. We should focus on Crossover and SUV models.”
Speaking of Renault’s China strategy, Luca De Mayo said: “Fundamentally, an international company must operate in China.” Renault’s current China business is handled by Nissan of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. He said: “I think Renault must ask ourselves when and in what way should we return to China.”
